I took a lot of pictures of signs on this last trip. Picturesque, weird, depressing (the sign for cheap gas) and optimistic…it seemed there was always a sign that caught my eye.
Anne, the first time I heard of Piggly Wiggly was in the movie Driving Miss Daisy. I remember thinking no way is there a real store called the Piggly Wiggly.
Jill – the signs advertising meat and bait blew me away. I’d love to get a nice hunk of meat out of the cooler where it is stored right next to the mealworms! ARGH
One of these days I will have to get my pics loaded.
I learned in Memphis the other day that Piggily Wiggly was the first grocery store as we know them today (with self-serve aisles). We don’t have them in Dallas but out in the sticks you can find them.
My name is Softdrink. Seriously. (Okay, fine. It's Jill. But I swear I answer to Softdrink.)
Most of what you'll find here is my disjointed thoughts on what I'm reading. Along with random life stuff...basically, whatever I feel like chatting about. Because this is my blog and I call the shots.
I've divorced myself from the term "book blogger." I don't write reviews and I don't accept books for review. Although, if you're a friend and you want to share books, I'm cool with that.
Whatcha lookin’ for?

Words to Live By
In a real sense, people who have read good literature have lived more than people who cannot or will not read. It is not true that we have only one life to live; if we can read, we can live as many more lives and as many kinds of lives as we wish. ~S.I. Hayakawa
The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.
~St. Augustine
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.
~Mark Twain
Love the one with gator meat and ostrich filets, the rabbit and buffalo.. yeah, I think I need to stop eating meat. That’s so gross.
Well, what do you know, I thought the Piggly Wiggly was just a fictional cartoon store…
Lisa, my thoughts exactly!

Love “Sorry Charlie’s”!
I’ve been going to Piggly Wiggly’s since I was a kid. There’s not that many of them left in NC but occasionally I still see one.
