Are you ready for a read-along? I’ll be reading Wuthering Heights in April and May, and I’d love it if you joined me. April and May are the perfect months to read Wuthering Heights, at least if you live in Morro Bay, because it’s darn windy right now.
wuthering: 1. blowing strongly: describes a wind that blows strongly and makes a loud roaring sound 2. having blustery winds: subject to persistent blustery or noisy winds [Late 18th century. < obsolete wuther "to rush"]
Here’s the plan:
I’ve stolen Ti’s idea of Moby Dick Monday. Only this will be Wuthering Heights Wednesday. And this time, I WILL finish the book.
Each Wednesday, starting April 7 and ending May 19 whenever, I (and whoever else wants to participate) will be posting my thoughts on the week’s reading. There are 20 (this isn’t true…have I ever mentioned how I can’t count?) who knows how many chapters, and my goal is to read this book before I leave for NY in May. That gives me 7 weeks, so I’ll be reading 3 chapters/week.
Edited 4/2/10: You might have noticed there are more than 20 chapters…who knows what I was looking at when I planned this. Let’s just say we’ll read 3 chapters a week, and when we’re done, we’re done.

i have 2 editions of Wuthering Heights. the Everyman’s Library has 34 chapters and 385 pgs. and the Deluxe Penguin has 20 chapters and 344 pgs. i plan on reading them side-by-side.

Wuthering Heights is such a goofy book. It reminded me of a huge soap opera, which made some of the ridiculousness easier to get through. good luck reading it

Hi Jill, I just wanted to let you know I think I need to “drop out” of the read-a-long. =( I’ve gotten increasingly behind and just don’t have time to catch up!! I’m disappointed though because I have read this book a few times and would have loved to read it again, but just can’t get into it with all the other stuff in my mind! Ahhh, hopefully I’ll get to it another time soon.

I’m actually reading Wuthering Heights ( Chapter 8) and I must say it’s quite confusing for the moment. It’s such a modern story, it’s like I’m reading the scenario of a new soap. I absolutely love it. The atmosphere is like a nice melody, we go from darkness to sunlight and the story of Nelly allows the reader to comprehend truly how strong is the bond between Heathcliff and Catherine. A lot of themes are dealt with in the book. I’m looking forward to finishing it !
