I’ll admit to being vain. And I love clothes and shoes. But does that mean I want to read about someone who is obsessed with how she looks in a pair of jeans? And how cute she thinks her platform shoes are? No.
Also, I pretty much hate philosophy (it was the only class I depended on Cliff Notes for in college).
And I don’t like reading about women who are cheating on their boyfriend (even if said boyfriend is obviously an ass).
So, considering that this book has a clothes-obsessed, cheating, philosophy major for a main character, it’s no surprise that I didn’t care for it.
And you’re probably wondering why I even bothered to read it. Honestly, I have no clue. Someone must have said something at some point that sparked my interest. But I’m afraid that’s lost in the ethernet of my brain, along with the info as to who the kind person was that sent me this book. Yeah, I’m lame.
But hey, you should form your own opinion about the book rather than rely on my questionable taste. I just happen to have an ARC that I’d love to pass on to someone, so let me know in the comments if you’re interested and I’ll draw a name in the next couple of days. And if you want to know what the book is about, check out Powell’s for the details.

You’ve definitely confirmed that I don’t want to read this one! (although I do enjoy philosophy, lol)
That cover really annoys me for some reason too.

I am pretty sure that this is not the book for me either. It sounds desperately shallow. Sorry that you didn’t like it, but thanks for the honesty in your review!

Hmmm…. first of all, love your review. I love how you explained why you didn’t like it – definitely had me giggling. Also… it does sound interesting, but ultimately not my type of books. I would dislike it for the same reasons that you did, I think! (So please don’t include me in your draw
.)

Dare I raise my hand and mention that it might have been my review that got you interested? I read and enjoyed this book because it made me think. I took more philosophy classes than I needed to as an English major. I enjoyed them. Come to think of it, I enjoyed my theoretical sociology classes as well.
I’m sorry you didn’t like it, but I can’t refute your reasons why. It’s interesting to me how books can click with some people and not with others.

Aha! So you’re to blame!
Yeah, wasn’t a big fan either. She sure liked to look at herself.

UGH! Whoever turned you on to this, it wasn’t me. I gave this boring piece of garbage 3 caterpillars.
Poor little three caterpillars…I’m surprised you associated any caterpillars with this one.
Well this sounds like the absolute perfect book for you to not read.

LOL…that’s the perfect way to put it.
I’ve read one book with philosophy as the underlying theme and it didn’t float my boat, so I think I’ll pass on this one too.
Does no one want this book?!?
(crickets)
Jeez … with a sales pitch like that, I wonder why NO ONE want this book. DO NOT ENTER ME.

I once fell asleep in a class, a PHILOSOPHY class, in my freshman year at college. The teacher just looked at me with gentle concern, he knew the class was just that bad Anyway. I have a copy of this myself and you have given me little motivation to dust it off, so definitely no need to enter me!

Too bad you didn’t like it because the title intrigued me. For some reason I thought it would be about something more prosaic than a woman obsessed with herself from that…silly me!

I can’t stand Philosophy, think most people look fat in jeans and all I can think of when I see platform shoes is that someone is going to break an ankle! Thanks for making me laugh, but I too shall pass.

I’m not too crazy about philosophy but the rest of this sounds interesting. Sorry you didn’t enjoy it though
I’m not interested, but if no one else wants it, I know I could find it a home in Korea. Expats will read anything!!!
I’m coming to the States later this month so if you wanted, you could send it to my mom’s address in Missouri. Well, anyway…let me know

I will pass — but I’m wondering what combination of factors led you pick this title up in the first place. I guess it shall remain a mystery even unto you.

I don’t think I’ve read a single positive review of this book.

I am not a big fan of philosophy too. I took a political philosophy class in college to try and avoid some of the heavier stuff. It didn’t work. And admittedly, shoes and clothes don’t interest me at all. Have you seen my wardrobe? On second thought, you probably wouldn’t want to.

Let’s all say thank you to Bybee, for offering this poor book a new home! And saving the rest of you from me hounding you to take the book.
Thank you Bybee!

Thanks, Bybee! I was starting to feel so sorry for the book that I almost had to offer to give it a home just so it wouldn’t be sad. It would, of course, have been related to the underbed TBR pile (because there is no where else to put books anymore) where it would gather dust and be utterly forgotten.

I’m so behind on reading blog posts that I missed this review and conversation until today. Too funny! I actually enjoyed my philosophy classes (ducking!), and one of my favorite/standard bar jokes is philosophy based. Aren’t you curious?!
And, thanks to Bybee for helping you out.
