Wuthering Heights Wednesday, week 10

whwbutton Wuthering Heights Wednesday, week 10

Welcome to Wuthering Heights Wednesday! I’m hosting a read-along of this classic novel, and we’re reading (and posting about) 3 chapters a week. Joining me in this adventure are:

Each week I’ll be posting a synopsis (which could contain spoilers, so fair warning) and my thoughts. Here we go…

Volume II, Chapters 14 through 16

My synopsis:

This will be short.

Catherine II and Linton are married. Edgar dies. Linton dies.

My thoughts:

The book is dying, too.

**Note: We’re almost done gang. We have four chapters left, so next week let’s just read all four and be done with this bad boy!

  1. Victoria says:

How creepy was Heathcliff…all “I dug up Catherine’s body when no one was looking”. Creeper.

The only thing sad about next week being the last week is that we won’t get to read lovely thoughts like these. :D

  7. Yeah, this is one I will be glad to be done with, but perhaps for not the same reasons exactly. I like the book as much as I ever have, but it’s very dark and requires a certain mindset to handle.

I do feel this is a must read book, but maybe more for academics and writers – especially when it comes to the theme and especially character development. How to, and how not too.

Hehe. I’m weird that way. But it’s okay. I like it. ;-)

I think my post this week kinda explains where I’m coming from.

I am so far behind on reading this! I will have to have a Wuthering Heights Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to catch up. But in reading the weekly updates, I’m starting to remember why I never liked this book!

I failed to leave my post this week although I’m caught up (and then some) but I agree. Dead in the water. Maybe next time we do a long readalong we can either not post every week or even read more than three chapters a week? Wonder what Bellezza did with Brothers K when she did her readalong recently?
