All of these mid-year statistic-y posts made me curious about my own reading numbers. So I did some advanced math (hey, if it involves counting in double digits, it’s advanced) and here’s what I’ve been up to this year:
Total number of books read January 1 – June 30: 87
*****
In the battle of the sexes, the female authors are winning (which is nothing new in my reading world):
- Female Authors: 57
- Male Authors: 29
- Other: 1 (published by IKEA with no author listed)
*****
I’ve read a respectable number of non-fiction books…for me:
- Fiction: 67
- Non-Fiction: 20
*****
Some miscellaneous statistics:
- Audio books: 1
- Graphic novels: 2
- Billy’s books: 4
- Read on the nook: 5
*****
This is how I acquired my books:
- Purchased: 63
- Received for review (from publisher, author, at BEA or via TLC): 14 (and 10 of those were read in June, which reflects the impact of BEA)
- Gifts: 6
- Library: 4
*****
And here are the countries I’ve visited:
- Great Britain (England and Wales)
- Turkey
- Cuba
- Ethiopia
- Brazil
- Germany
- Japan
- France
- Iceland
- Estonia
- Spain
- Ireland
- Iran
- Albania
- Marshall Islands
- Sri Lanka
- Italy
- Poland
- Somalia
- India
- Canada
- China
- Sweden
- New Zealand
- Vietnam
- Cambodia

Wow, you have read an amazing number – and so many female authors and so many countries! I’m duly impressed!

I thought about doing some statistics like this last year but decided not to tax my little brain. I’m impressed by your numbers!
Nicely done! I love the inclusion of countries – is that where the book takes place or where the author is from? I’m curious because I want to steal it. : )

I’m so impressed by the number of countries! I meant to be a more diverse reader this year, but I have so far not really succeeded at it – I keep getting distracted by ideas of new things I want to research.
