BBAW: Forgotten Treasures

BBAW 2010 Image BBAW: Forgotten Treasures

Today’s Topic: Sure we’ve all read about Freedom and Mockingjay but we likely have a book we wish would get more attention by book bloggers, whether it’s a forgotten classic or under marketed contemporary fiction. This is your chance to tell the community why they should consider reading this book!

Earlier this year I read The Disappeared, a haunting, beautiful book about Cambodia. The only other person I know that has read this book is My Friend Amy, which is a tragedy of epic proportions (not the fact that Amy has read it, but that she’s the only other person I know that has read it). You can read my review here, and Amy’s review here. And if we can’t convince you to read this book, than you’ve got a cold, cold heart.

Okay, I’m kidding about your cold heart, but please consider giving this book some love. It’s short and beautifully written, so it’s not like I’m asking you to read The Brothers Karamazov for gawd’s sake.

I don’t think I’ve heard of this book before but will definitely check it out. Cambodia’s recent history is so tragic and although I’ve tried to read up on it a little, it’s difficult to understand how such things could have happened.

  2. I am adding it to my tbr list!

  16. I’m not quite sure how I missed this review the last time around, but I requested it from the library (which doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll read it, but it makes it so much more likely.) It sounds lovely, and I’ve really been enjoying short books lately. I can read one on my day off and not be tempted to spend too much time on my jam-packed days thinking about it.
