FTC disclosure: I received a copy of this book for review from the publisher. Thank you, Little, Brown!

Room is published today, and I can’t begin to tell you all how wonderful this book is. Here is the brief synopsis from the author’s website:

Jack and Ma live in a locked room that measures eleven foot by eleven. When he turns five, he starts to ask questions, and his mother reveals to him that there is a world outside.

Told entirely in Jack’s voice, ROOM is no horror story or tearjerker, but a celebration of resilience and the love between parent and child.

It is an amazing story of the effects on the psyche when your entire world consists of one small room.

And that’s all you need to know. Now go read it. Please.

11×11 room? This sounds incredibly intense–but not a tearjerker or a horror story? Um, this post might be the ultimate teaser! Off to check out the book…

I just read this book a few weeks ago, and I loved it to pieces. I can’t imagine what it must have been like for Jack’s mom in that little room, and I also can’t imagine how she kept herself from going crazy being locked in a room with an inquisitive 5 year old!

  19. Thought this book was amazing as well, and would recommend it to everyone. It’s not gimmicky or as commercial as one would expect it to be either.
