I am a whore for Starbucks. Specifically, the decaf skinny cinnamon dolce latte. It’s a definite mood improver.
Luckily, the only Starbucks in Morro Bay is inside of a grocery store, and this total lack of coffee shop ambiance means I never go there. However, in SLO, where I work (and visit bookstores), there are 8 Starbucks (at least…I might have forgotten 1 or 2). This means it’s almost impossible to resist when I hear them calling my name.
Why the ode to Starbucks? Well, I was sitting at work this week editing a report, when I realized the aforementioned drink would help the editing process (hey, I thought it was a good excuse). So I rounded up a co-worker and off we went. And the sign in the window of Starbucks said…
Friends are like snowflakes. All are different. All are beautiful.
And I thought that was a wonderful saying (although the fact that we don’t get snow probably makes it a lovelier sentiment to us west coasters).
So in honor of the American Thanksgiving, I’d just like you all to know how grateful I am for all of my wonderfully different and beautiful blogging friends…may you all have a joyous day.

Have a great day Jill!
Aww, you too, Jill! Can I be the top snowflake? Happy Thanksgiving!

Loved the opening sentence…. thank goodness I had already swallowed the coffee I was drinking or my untimely laughter may have ruined a perfectly good keyboard.
Happy Thanksgiving Jill!

Awwww, right back at you. I’m so happy that our only good Starbucks are (1) in the dead center of the nearby college town (no thank you) or a trip on the bypass to the far side of the nearby college town (I’m rarely out that way). This is both good and bad — I love Starbucks, but it saves me money and calories.
It just hit me that you work in SLO (I mean I knew that, but it just sunk in — I’m slow like that). Have you read Earlene Fowler’s cozy mystery series that takes place there and in surrounding parts? You might get a kick out of them.

I loved this Jill. Thanks
(Since we moved last year, the closest Starbucks is about 1 minutes instead of 5 minutes, but I only go a couple of times a month).

Starbucks … purveyors of coffee and deep thoughts.
I love snowflakes. I’m going to start my annual winter attempt to cut intricate snowflakes out of paper … this year my mom bought me a kit!!!

Starbucks is so good at creating a “feeling” whether it be comforting warm fuzzies or a sense of sophistication at shelling out $4+ for a cup of coffee. Needless to say, it’s a treat! And like snowflakes, there is a drink for everyone. Now I want one too.
Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! My week off went by super fast.

On Satuday I will be moving 15o miles away fom the nearest starbucks. rumo has it that there is a coffee hut somewhere in town, but i have not seen it. literally, a hut, not a chain. therefore, i feel it completely reasonable if i got to starbucks every day this week.

Very good post! I am a Starbucks fanatic. There is one at the end of my street an I go there every. single. morning. My drink of choice is a nonfat caramel macchiato. Yum!
