********************

I bought this book, only because it was on the literary fiction short list for the Indie Lit Awards, for which I was a panelist.

If I had to describe this book in one word, I’d say cute.

In fact, I think that’s all I’ll say.

So is that your shortest review ever?

  2. Jenny says:

LOL! That was sort of the impression I got about this book.

  3. zibilee says:

I have been so on the fence about this book! The first few reviews were a little tepid, but then everything recent has been stellar, so I am not sure what to make of it. I think I am going to read it eventually, but I will reserve judgment until I am done and let you know what you think.

  4. Melody says:

I was going to say sweet. Cute works. (my review is going to seem so wordy compared to yours!)

  5. I hear charming a lot too. I bought it for my grandmother for Christmas, which seemed appropriate. Will I read it? I haven’t heard anyone say it’s literary yet, so perhaps that inevitable late March snowstorm will compel me to pick it up off my shelf.

  6. Well, you’ve made me curious.

  7. Kerry says:

Well, that’s one way of writing a review! Certainly to the point. I’m curious, though, if cute is a good thing or a bad thing? Or maybe it’s subjective.

If I had to sum it up in one word, I would have said charming … perhaps the audio was a bit better than the print.

  15. Really? That sounds like the kiss of death!

I liked it a lot, there were several discussable themes. My only quibble would be that there was almost too much going on at the climax (felt a bit rushed).

I listened to about 10 minutes of the audiobook and had exactly the same feeling. I may listen to it later, but at the time, I wasn’t in the mood.

Very succinct review – one that I appreciate. I just picked this book up on a whim. I had seen it around on blogs a bunch and cute seems to be the consensus. Good think I enjoy cute.
