I have spent the past couple of weeks at work glued to my computer, compiling and editing and re-editing and editing some more a report for the state (this is bureaucracy at its most ridiculous) on a topic that is so epically boring (and filled with acronyms and also best described by the Savage Chickens cartoon below) that I won’t bore you with the details. The report is currently at 73 pages, with more still to come. Last Thursday I woke up from a dream in which I was composing yet more boring sentences for said report. I just about screamed, because I can’t even escape the damn thing in my sleep.
I’d much rather be in New York hanging out and chatting books with my bloggy friends. Or even Armchair BEA’ing with the rest of my bloggy friends. But since this report is sucking all words from me and I’m left feeling decidedly FLAT, I’m going to do us all a favor and runaway from my blog for the week.

Good, take a break and get the damn thing out of your head!
I hate it when work gets like that! Good luck!
I used to write audit reports (a precursor to blogging, whatever that tells you!) so I feel your pain. I’ve always compared that type of thing to birthing a particularly large and stubborn baby. Just get it out Jill, then the clouds will part.
Eh. Meh. Blah.
Best thing to do: Watch hot-guy-tv right before napping. Better dreams.
Sorry to hear that work is so mind-numbingly boring right now. It sounds like you might need a vacation in the near future, and I hope that you get one!
Ugh, that all sounds decidedly un-fun. Sorry you’re missing all the (Armchair) BEA-ing! Here’s to a report-free 2012 BEA.
WaaaAAAAAaaaa! I prefer fizzy soda pop!
Trisha’s comment sounds like excellent advice. Sweet dreams sans report writing!
Girl, I feel your pain. We just submitted a 1000 page proposal and you KNOW no one will read through it. Talk about a waste of time …
Aw, sorry about the boring work. Sometimes it’s best to just step away when you’re out of words. Hope you come back with your fizz restored, next week.
Work is effing with my life, too. Stupid work. Go stand in the corner.
Dumb work. Hope the rest of the report goes quickly and smoothly!
Sounds like you are writing a report that would rival the Brothers K for awfulness and boringness.
Ugh! Those bureaucracies!
It’s Thursday now so I hope you’re finished with that report and relaxing.
YUCK I hate it when work erodes one’s creative self or life for that matter!
Loved the Savage Chicken cartoon – one of my favourites.
Get that report done and live life large again!
