I wasn’t going to read this book. I had read some reviews that mentioned disappointment and a lack of Cornelia, and because I loved her first two novels so much, I’d decided to skip this one. But then it was a rainy day on Cape Cod (and weirdly enough, it’s a rainy day here as I type this), and I was looking for something to add to the nook app, and well, I caved. It seemed like the perfect sort of rainy day read.
Except then I spent all of the rainy day (and rainy evening) reading Gone with the Wind. But it was a good GWTW chaser! I ended up loving Pen and Will (not so much Cat) (okay, and Pen took awhile, but she did grow on me), and even though parts were predictable (Pen and Will) and parts weren’t (Cat), I still didn’t want to see the book end.
So I don’t feel guilty about caving. At all.
But if you’re looking for Cordelia, you’d best be moving on.
And if you have never read Marisa de los Santos, you have no idea what I’m talking about. So do yourself a favor and go read her first two books. Or…read this one, and then go read the other two. That way you won’t miss Cordelia. And you’ll know what I’m talking about.
Maybe.
Sometimes even I don’t know what I’m talking about.

I’d been so excited about this book and then read the reviews you’re referring too and kind of stuck it at the bottom of my pile. Maybe I need to rethink it.

Just forget you’ve ever read any of her other books, and then I think it’ll all be okay.
I don’t know; even if I hadn’t read the other two, I think I still wouldn’t have loved this one.

This wasn’t a bad book … but I still miss Cordelia!
Jenners´s last [type] ..Review: The Ledge by Jim Davidson and Kevin Vaughn
Ha! I read the author’s first book but haven’t bothered to pick up the next ones. I need to change that soon.

Hahahaha great review. I don’t know what to make of the book, but I enjoyed your review of it!
Marie´s last [type] ..REVIEW: Inverted World, by Christopher Priest
I agree. Good book, but definitely missing Cordelia. I had been told originally that this was Book Three, so that’s where my disappointment lay when I got it, but after I got over that, I pleasantly enjoyed it. Even if I didn’t end up liking Cat once she wasn’t so memory-ish.
Amanda´s last [type] ..I have earned my cruise!!!
I admit, I have never read anything by de los Santos. I know she’s popular, but I am always afraid that it is just chick lit. Which isn’t bad, but sometimes I get hesitant about chick lit.

A book chaser? Oh…. I am SOOOOO using that in the future
I thin I am doing that now… I have read some pretty heavy books and now… I am eyeballing a “chaser” for this afternoon.
Sheila (Book Journey)´s last [type] ..Morning Meanderings… HOME from Honduras
I loved her first two books but had been a little hesitant to start this one when I saw so many reviews registering disappointment. It sounds as if you take it as a standalone book and don’t project all the Cornelia expectations on it.
Colleen´s last [type] ..Review: The Orphan Sister by Gwendolen Gross
This author has been on my gotta-read-someday list; I will letthis one be the first. I think.
