Saturday morning fizzies

Hamburger and I went to the movies last night. We got all hopped up on popcorn and diet coke and didn’t go to bed ’til after midnight. Yet we still woke up before 6. *sigh* I think I might be on a residual caffeine high.

We saw “The Hunger Games.” I have thoughts. Many thoughts. (Do you put movies in quotes? Underlines? Italics? Why can’t I ever remember that rule?)

Last weekend it rained. Then it got all windy. Now it’s hot. As in summertime hot. And next week it’s supposed to rain again. What’s up with that?

Tomorrow is my birthday. What’s up with that, too? 43, people! How does shit like that happen??

Sorry for the curses. I actually don’t mind the birthdays, but at some point I’m going to hit 50 and I think I might just freak at that. But for now…head placed firmly in the sand.

To celebrate, tomorrow I’m having lunch with the family at our favorite place, Taco Temple. And there will be dessert, dammit.

Since tomorrow is family day, today I’m going to do whatever I gosh darn feel like (name that movie…and no, my lips don’t hurt real bad). Later this afternoon, HB and I are going to ride the cruisers on the Bob Jones Trail, a local bike path that goes to a little beach town. But he has to prep for some concrete work this morning, so I think I might just take myself into SLO and hang out and read and maybe write some more posts and buy myself a new pair of running shoes (for walking, because my feet prefer running shoes for walking) (also, boring, but needed, since I’m walking (NOT running) Bay to Breakers next month and I need to get them broken in sooner rather than later).

Speaking of shoes, these are my current favorite pair. Aren’t they kick-ass awesome? And they’re even more orange in person! And yes, I know this because I have a pair. I might just be 6 feet tall when I wear them.

Evidently, you guys like Salt ‘n Pepa. Who knew? Amy has put in a request for Shoop. And what Amy wants, Amy gets. Just not today. Tomorrow, maybe.

I haven’t read a book all week. What the hell?????

If you’re readathoning (I’m not, obvs), have fun! Not that you’d be reading this if you were readathoning. But I couldn’t let they day go by without a shout-out to the readers.

Now that I’ve shouted-outed, I’m off to get on with the doing of the whatever I gosh darned feel like.

What are you doing??

  1. Advance Happy Birthday! And I just knew you would go to Taco Temple! Wish I were going with you!

  2. JoAnn says:

Early Happy Birthday, Jill! Age does kind of creep up on you, but I’m getting really good at celebrating my 39th birthday. Have been doing it for more than a decade now ;-)

  3. 43 sounds good to me since I’m old enough to be your babysitter. I went to see The Huger Games too and don’t know if I’ll write about it or not.

  4. heidenkind says:

    Aw, happy birthday!

  5. I am taking breaks with audio so I can check other happenings out there – Happy almost birthday and LOVE LOVE the shoes!!!

I of course am supposed to be reading but love the mini challenges (I love games!) so have to turn on the audio book (The lIfeboat) while I complete a challenge and then go back to the books. Gotta go! Have a great day – oh and rainy and crappy today a perfect day for a readathon!

  6. Care says:

Happy Birthday! the card will be late.

    LOVE those orange shoes!

I’m not officially readathonning either and I feel rather bad (badly?) about it. I have had a few hours to read today though which has been very nice.

I’m also doing laundry and yardwork and prepping for a Titanic party tonight. (I have no idea, ask me tomorrow. Hub wants to bring a chunk of iceberg lettuce as the hostess gift. He’s such a dweeb. We ARE wearing our life jackets, tho, to be safe.)

  7. Lorren says:

Happy birthday tomorrow! And those shoes are to die for! Orange is my favorite color so I am having a serious case of coveting.

  8. Happy Birthday!

Awesome shoes. You look terrific in orange; I can tell from here.

I am obviously not readathoning and I don’t feel guilty, just a little sad to be missing out. I’ve had a good reading month, at least.

    Have a great weekend!

  9. Amused says:

Happy almost birthday!! Lovin the new shoes – so springtime fabulous! You should give me a shout when you are in my neck of the woods for Bay to Breakers and we could grab some coffee or something if you have any free time!

  10. Happy Birthday Jill — You a still a kid to me:) How do I know, I ‘d topple over with those great orange shoes on:)
Kathy could be your babysitter, but you could be my daughter if I had you in my late teens:)

  11. Bybee says:

    Happy Effing Birthday!!!

  12. Helen says:

Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoy family day and have a great time. And those shoes? I am SO impressed because they are awesome, but REALLY HIGH :-)

  13. Stephanie says:

Love the shoes! They look very fun and flirty. I have no idea what the Taco Temple is but it sounds like my kind of place!! Happy birthday!

  14. Colleen says:

Have a GREAT day, Jill! I have heard great things about Bay to Breakers – that is great that you are walking it! As long as you don’t walk in the orange sandals . . . .

  15. Jenners says:

Happy Birthday! (I’m older than you so don’t go feeling bad!) Those are some shoes!!! Cute as all heck. And no books all week? ACK! And are you going to SHARE your thoughts on The Hunger Games or what?

  16. Lu says:

    Happy birthday, Jill!!!!! :D

  17. christina says:

Happy birthday Jill! Hope it’s been a foshizzle fizzley day.

  18. What a fun ramble! Happy birthday, and happy new shoes (I would break my neck walking 5 yards, but I do adore the color!) … and I bet you are 6 feet tall when you wear them.

  19. Beth F says:

Happy late birthday. Love the shoes! I don’t wear heels so I never feel 6 feet tall (except in ego!). Movies titles are in italics. And 43 is young — really — even though it’s older than I feel. You share a birthday with my brother, my BFF’s husband, and our (no longer with us) cats. I should remember next year.

  20. stacybuckeye says:

I know that I should use the mark as read button when I get this behind, but then I’d miss birthdays. You have the same birthday as my best friend from high school. (http://www.alleycat.org/Page.aspx?pid=985) Happy birthday to two cool cats!
