Hello from Oregon!
I am vacationing this week. HB and I are at his yearly family reunion. 20 people, 2 houses…it is mostly good times, with interludes of too much family togetherness. Yesterday we raced go karts with the teenagers (always fun) and played mini-golf (we made it through 9 holes before we decided that lunch was more important than the remaining 9). But I also got lots of walking in. Which is good, because there are also lots of opportunities to eat.
Today I am going to attempt to escape some of the family togetherness and go search out a bookstore in Bend. I have to take advantage of the no sales tax!
In other news…
I am reading The Dud Avocado, which is surprisingly funny. And also a bit scandalous.
6 hours later.
I was interrupted by a niece begging for people to go on a bike ride with her. So I bike rode. And then completed the aforementioned escaping task. I now am back and seem to have acquired 4 more books than I had this morning. Did I mention Oregon has no sales tax? I am a firm believer that I must take advantage of this while I am here. (I also have a new pair of capris, flip-flops, and a sweatshirt. And another book that I bought yesterday. I am doing my part to help Oregon’s economy.)
Remember this post? Well, Christina and I will be working out the details shortly, but there will definitely be an IT-along in September (I bought my copy today! I had to visit three bookstores before I found it, though. Horror doesn’t seem to be a big thing up here…). So stay tuned for more details. And clown noses. I am also plotting the return of Dueling Monsters. This year’s throwdown will most likely be American Psycho v. Red Dragon (I bought my copies today!). Psychopaths anyone?
It’s shaping up to be a scary next few months. If you’re looking for me, I might just be cowering in the corner muttering something about clowns and brains. I’m currently more than a little freaked out just knowing that there are THREE SCARY BOOKS sitting in a bag on the other side of the room.
I am also going to join in the North and South readalong that Andi and Heather are hosting. Since that starts tomorrow, I really should stop with the procrastinating and open up the iPad (I’ll be reading this one on my nook app).
Now I’m off to read! Or maybe take a nap…
