Why you need to read It

I know many of you are reluctant to join in the fun that will be the It-along, mainly because of this:

Why you need to read It

However, you shouldn’t let a little bit of coulrophobia (yes, there is a word for fear of clowns) stop you, because we are going to have one hell of a kick-ass good time. Here are just a few of the reasons why…

Princess Clown Nose (someone’s been reading Anna K and wanted her very own title) and Fizzybeverage (that’s moi, in case you forgot where you are) are hosting. With names like that, how could you possibly go wrong?? And if you join us, I could be persuaded to come up with a ridiculous name for you, too! I promise I won’t call you Bozo.

Speaking of noses…the Princess has ‘em! The first ten peeps to pledge their undying devotion (or you know, just sign up to read the damn book), will get their very own clown nose (because really, who wants to share? That would be icky)! Thanks to Care (who, by the way has already started! (overachiever)), I already have mine. I promise there will be pictures. Later.

There will be plenty of opportunities to laugh your ass off (did I not just mention the forthcoming pictures?). Heck, we haven’t even started reading yet and I’ve already been entertained by 1) the Emergency Clown Nose waiting on my doorstep 2) the fact that Care, the Princess and I were all thinking about clown noses at the same time in different states and 3) Natalie‘s hysterical comment about needing a new nose. Oh…and 4) Trish‘s willingness to post a picture of her shock and dismay on twitter that we were actually serious about reading this book (I would steal and post it, but that was over a week ago, and good lord, do you know how often that woman tweets!?!). Goofiness abounds.

John Wayne Gacy is DEAD, people. Nothing to fear there.

You know you want a reason to buy a pair a pair of clown shoes. I mean, look at all that toe space! Your feet would be sooooo happy.

Why you need to read It

Personally though, I’ve got my eye on a pair of these babies:

Why you need to read It

Are they not the coolest things ever?? Well, besides clown noses, of course.

So. Have I convinced you yet?? The official It-along won’t start ’til September but you’ve got plenty of time to think about it (and I’ve got lots of time to talk you into it!). If you’re ready to commit, don’t forget to pop on over to the Princess’s blog for a chance to get your very own clown nose! Oh come on, you know you want one.

I’ve read it before and I mentioned on Instagram that I’d be participating “unofficially” because as soon as I make it official, I tend to hate the reading but as cute as the nose idea is (and it’s WAY cute) the thought of wearing a nose while reading REALLY f’ing freaks me out! Please, please do not take photos of you guys wearing them. I will shit my pants.

I’m sorry, I just can’t. I do NOT do well with horror. I get nightmares. I mean, seriously, I had a nightmare last night about getting laid off because I accidentally forgot to attach an Excel file to an email I sent to my boss. (Forgetting to send the attachment really DID happen and apparently has caused a lot of stress in my subconscious mind). I also have had nightmares about missing final exams and failing out of school, showing up to work on the first day in flip flops, showing up at the wrong time for job interviews, and getting reamed out by my boss for incorrectly formatting a spreadsheet. Seriously. As though I would EVER be late to ANYTHING. I don’t understand subconscious me.

Obviously, my life is full enough of possibly horrific events WITHOUT HAVING TO ADD IN CLOWNS.

  12. I really do need a new nose, I’m not kidding! Ok, maybe a little bit. Just a wee. Not enough to cut off my nose to spite my face, though. What does that saying mean, anyway?

I’m all over this book and am ready to dive in over the weekend. I’m debating on whether I should do the audiobook or read the printed version, or a little of both. I’ve heard Steven Weber’s narration of it is amaze-balls. I cannot wait. I’m actually even more encouraged that Jenners still hasn’t recovered from reading the story in college! Scary books, let’s do this! *cowersunderdesk*
