Where in the World Are You Reading: waiting

where in the world Where in the World Are You Reading: waiting

This month’s theme for Where in the World Are You Reading (this month’s host: Lisa) is Waiting.

How convenient.

In the past few weeks, I’ve had to do a bit more waiting than usual. First, there was jury duty. It gave me a chance to read a bit (when you read almost 200 pages of a 1098 page book, it’s still just a bit) of this:

I really, really wanted to show up in court like this, though:

I’m pretty sure that would’ve gotten me dismissed a lot sooner.

The bulk of my waiting, however, was because of our dryer, which inconveniently quit blowing hot air. It was kind enough to quit during my last load of laundry for the week, though. So I took myself and my book off to the laundromat:

I read a bit of Timbuktu and entertained myself with the Suds ‘n Such sign. Otherwise, it was pretty boring. But since laundromat dryers kick serious drying ass, I was only there for about 1/2 hour.

Unfortunately, the following week, I had to do it again, since the repairman visit/not worth fixing/new dryer saga ended up being a two week affair. This time I decided to try a different place, because I figured if I had to go the the laundromat, I might as well entertain myself with a comparison study. At least this one had a mural (we do like our murals in Morro Bay):

It was also empty. So my book got to pose for a picture:

The Soap Center wasn’t nearly as cute, and the music left A LOT to be desired (I’ve discovered I can’t read while the Bee Gee’s warble in the background), but it had the same kick ass dryers.

It’s probably a good thing I didn’t take IT with me to the laundromat, since it has it’s own featured in the book: the Krazy Kleen. I probably would’ve run screaming from the building had I read that while waiting for my clothes to dry.

Thanks to the Where in the World gang (KailanaLisa, and Trish) for this month’s topic…it made hanging out at the laundromat marginally more exciting.

  1. I had to work at Carl and Vance’s store a couple days last week. I took my book both days, expecting some downtime to read. I didn’t get to crack my book either day. Good for the store, but not for me.

2 weeks to get the dryer fixed? That would have driven me crazy! I am glad that you got so far along into IT though, I am working my way through it as well.

I LOVE this. And definitely think you should have worn the nose to jury duty. And the laundromat for that matter.

I can’t read with music on. or the TV on. And since Scott watches TV in bed this is a real problem. I’ve thought about getting ear plugs (thanks Jenn Picky Girl for the suggestion) but am lazy.

I’m sorry you had to do so much waiting this month but glad you got a post out of it!! ;)

Spent an hour waiting for the doctor this afternoon. In between the TV blaring General Hospital (I think) and all the paperwork I had to fill out, I may have gotten 30 or 40 pages further into IT. But progress is progress!

Should you need another laundromat, check Baywood Park and see if the Sudz & Suds is still there. Laundromat attached to a full service bar. Get sloshed along with your clothes! :)

I will always get a chuckle out of your reading IT with your clown nose and glasses looking so serious.

I so wish you had worn your nose to jury duty! Can you imagine the look on the judge’s face!

Your laundromat looks fancy compared to ours! My next door neighbor’s washer quit so she spent the better part of a day walking between our houses using our machine :)
Is it wrong that serving on a jury is on my bucket list? Makes me seem like I want to send someone to jail or something.

Oooh, To Timbuktu. What did you think about it?

The laundromat used to be one of my favorite places to sit and read…but then I moved and have a new one that is too small to sit and wait. Therefore, it’s a trek back and forth, back and forth to and from my apartment in between cycles. SUCKS!

Sorry about the broken dryer fiasco, but hey! At least you got to explore and come up with something to talk about in this post, right? ;)

Sorry about your dryer! It’s at times like those though that I wonder what people do if they DON’T read. Probably play on their phones. How boring. :-)
