I started reading The Count of Monte Cristo yesterday. After 60 pages, here are my initial thoughts:
Danglars is an ass.*
Caderousse is an ass.
Cousin Fernand is an ass.
Also, based on the heft of the copy I’m toting around, certain people (the women at the nail place where I was getting a pedicure) are convinced it’s going to take me a year to read the book. Let’s hope they’re wrong.
*I am also convinced that Big Jim Rennie from Under the Dome is a direct descendent.
The baddies are easy to pick out and it makes it even better when Dantes gets REVEEEEEEENGE!

I really need to start this book! I’ve never read it all the way through, though I’ve seen a movie adaptation. And yes, there are plenty of douchebag characters to hate in this story.

Yes, the baddies are so easy to spot, but it makes it that much sweeter when Dante gets his revenge. The build-up to that iso so sweet!
My oldest daughter enjoyed this book and encouraged me to give it a go…alas, I’m not in the mood for ass reading right now…maybe later :p
