Not one, not two, but THREE readalongs

So you know we’re all on for the #shineon in February, right? We’ll be spending the month reading Stephen King’s The Shining. Because, as Michelle (at least I think/hope it was Michelle?) said, nothing says romance like Stephen King.

But after Princess Clown Nose asked what readalongs we planned on joining in the New Year, I got to thinking about what I wanted to read next year, and I came up with two more readalong possibilities.

For January, I’m planning a “I’m gonna finish that damn book if it’s the last thing I do” readalong. Otherwise known as the Procrastination-along (I’ll be calling it the #peeon for twitter purposes, mostly because at this point that’s how I feel about my chosen book), this readalong is for those of us who flaked on reading something in 2012 (and I’d be willing to bet we ALL flaked on something). You can read whatever your nemesis is, but I will be finishing Bleak House. After which I have plans to never pick up another Dickens. Yes, you read that right. I am over Mr. Wordy Pants, even if his characters do have the best names.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist

And then, in March, there will be the March-along. For now, I’ll let you guess what the book is, but the readalong name is totally relevant. Also, it’s the freezer book from Friends. And Out of Print has a tote that would make a spectacular readalong prize.

Not one, not two, but THREE readalongsI promise, this is NOT the book!

To recap:

January: #peeon
February: #shineon
March: #marchon

Buttons and official plans to follow, but for now, do I have any takers?

oh, and yes, YES of course #shineon. The audio has a fabulous narrator. Just sayin’. I need to write my review of Bleak House. Maybe this week. Maybe the second week in January. Feeling a bit unmotivated and really want to just sit in my jammies and read.

I should really join #peeon and finish Clarissa, but we’ll be away for a couple of weeks in January and I hate to ruin a good vacation ;-)

    Ha–I could do #marchon for #peeon. But I won’t–I seriously just can’t get into that book. But #shineon–now that’s a definite possibility!

I definitely want to do The Shining!

I wonder if Les Miserables will be my #peeon book. I’m 44 pgs in and already feeling frustrated. Yes, I get it! The bishop is a great guy! He’s wonderful! Next character?

Well, I (and you I think) flaked on A People’s History of the US but I have no plans to read that. I’m curious about your #marchon … isn’t it the same as your shineon?

Looking forward to Shineon! I am hosting a read-along for Murakami’s Wind-Up Bird in April! Which sounded far off but now, not so much since you have most of the year planned already. LOL.

Little Women is your #marchon book? I’ll probably pass on that one – I just read it as an adult not more than two years ago, but count me in for #shineon!!! I’ve been waiting for it for months!! I feel bad that I don’t have a book for #peeon. I feel like I’m letting you down.

I should scold you for giving up on Dickens. I do love me some Mr. Dickens. The characters are always fun, and I love the plot twists that he always includes.

(And yes, that was me. Because King and the “most romantic month” are perfect for each other!)

Oh man, I missed the It madness, but I think I may have to get my shineon!

I totally think I’m going to do the shinealong with y’all!!! He has a SEQUEL to the shining coming out this year so I want to read the first one!!
