Too bad all the #shineon readers don’t live in Davis, CA. We could meet for lunch here:

redrum burger Field trip!I’ve actually eaten there, and the food is pretty tasty. And true fact…before it was called Redrum Burger? It was Murder Burger.

Oh, I like the new name MUCH better than the old one, and I think all the King fans agree!

I really need a Redrum burger, instead of this damned diet frozen thing. I love that they tipped their hat to Uncle Stevie.

Where do they get their meat though?

  5. How Cool Jill LOL. I’m on Chapter 6 of The Shining on audio and enjoying it. Just got it from the library yesterday.

Davis, CA you say? I’m already typing it into Google Maps to see just how far a drive it would be from where we are staying in Orange County at the end of March…

My book club read Plato’s Republic one year, and then we found a diner called Plato’s Diner. It served Greek food and everything. What a great meetup!

Redrum Burger is just a little spookier than Plato!

  8. Heather says:

Yeah, seriously? WHERE do they get their meat? I’m all anxious, especially after the horse meat in the Burger King burgers. IT COULD BE ANYTHING.

That is awesome! Though I must say, the name of the restaurant doesn’t really put me in the mood for meat.

Okay, I must be a moron. I’m only about 60 or so pages in but I didn’t make the connection that redrum was murder backwards. When it came up in the book, I was just like, whaaaa?

That is cool that they changed the name.

You are NOT a moron! I think it is awesome that you are going into this blank – it’s refreshing. I haven’t even seen the movie (all the way through; I’ve seen scenes and that Nicholson grimace) but I know more than I wish.

No way! I want to go to there. Also, Jenners question is a good one.

I remember being very surprised by the meaning of REDRUM in the movie, so the name of this diner is kind of a spoiler for the book, but it’s one of those that you figure so many people know about, like Anna Karenina doing you-know-what at the end, that you don’t even think about it! I wouldn’t have caught on early in the book, either, if I didn’t already know.
