So it’s only Day 2 of the readalong formerly known as the #marchon. And two things:
1. I still haven’t started the book. Although OTHER PEOPLE (Ali) have finished. Overachiever.
2. We will now be tweeting using the #marmeeon hashtag. Because certain other pople (not Ali) seem to think that March is all about basketball and they have already claimed #marchon for their nefarious purposes. And since I spent last month trying to separate out our #shineon tweets from god-only-knows-what-those-other-people-were-yammering-on-about, we decided to change our name. To the #marmeeon, because hello…who doesn’t love Marmee? And also, I’m pretty sure no one else will be hijacking that to talk about basketball or moonshine or whatever.
Oh wait. A third thing:
This is the version that Vasilly is reading and I. AM. SO. JEALOUS. Isn’t it purty?

That is so pretty! Not pretty enough for me to read it again, but pretty.
It’s not even tempting you just a little bit??
marmeeon!
I knew you’d approve.
That’s the Penguin Threads edition!!!! I want it so bad!! As you know I collect all of the different penguin imprints :p I have the Wizard of Oz and Wind in the Willows Penguin Threads books and they’re so freaking awesome!! I swear they have to be THE most awesome publisher when it comes to book design. Now if I could only finish the Shineon :p
Yes, Penguin totally rocks the covers.
Did I ever thank you for the Puffin postcard? Probably not, since I was pretty flaky last month. But it was SO AWESOME, and weirdly appropriate, as you mentioned.
If I had that cover, I might actually read it! (Okay, probably not, but it wouldn’t hurt.) And sadly, like Chris, I’m still mired in #shineon anyway.
The Shining covers leave A LOT to be desired.
Now I need to write the new hashtag down. I read Little Women years ago but can’t remember most of it. Maybe when I do, the cover will make sense to me.
Well they do spend a lot of time sewing.
I’m just past the halfway point and I’ve made the connection to almost everything on the cover. You can do it!
Overachiever? Me?? Bahahahaha! I mean: Yes.
Just for this one month, let me pretend.
Bask in your overachieverishness.
I love the new hashtag. I will definitely be curious to see what you think of Little Women. I find it is one that does not lend itself well to adulthood, but that was my opinion when I read it again just a few years ago. That being said, I always love seeing people’s reactions to reading it for the first time. Enjoy!
And yes, that cover is gorgeous!
I noticed that on Twitter with the #shineon hashtag. I was like…”get off our hashtag!” Yes, I think this new hashtag is quite appropriate because Marmee does indeed rock! Don’t worry…I haven’t started either, but this is like the 1000th (slight exaggeration) reread for me so it’s not like I can’t talk about the book because I don’t know what’s going on, unless the peri-menopause brain kicks in. In that case, all bets are off.
